The title blows our own trumpet somewhat but we believe it to be accurate. Seven Seas Worldwide has worked with tens of thousands of customers moving abroad to South Africa, plus we have our own bases there so we know a thing or two about what it takes to make a go of it in SA.
Moving abroad anywhere is a task and a half. It's one of the most stressful things a human being can do. Now that's a fact, probably. Therefore when the decision has been made that leaving the UK for better prospects is a viable option, it's important to do as much research as possible on the country in question because the journey is a lot longer coming back.
If you're leaving the UK for sunnier climes in South Africa, it's worth noting that South Africa can still get a bit chilly during July and August, and thunderstorms are quite frequent from November through to March. Plus if you're looking to save on energy bills by moving to a warmer climate, remember some countries charge higher than other countries for electricity and gas supply anyway. Find out about your specific destination and perhaps contact someone there to work out the monthly costs.
You know what else you should keep an eye on? Local politics. We know it's not something that sends the heart racing but it's worth monitoring because these are the people responsible for passing legislation that could affect you and your rights as an immigrant. Yep, that's what you are now.
Talk to a tax advisor beforehand to ensure you're not hit with any nasty tax bills, particularly if you're buying property overseas.
Naturally, you will need to apply for a visa. To obtain any kind of visa, you will need to have a radiological report, police clearance, the cash equivalent of your airfare home and a routine medical. If you're moving to South Africa to retire, you will need to possess assets worth R20,000 a month which works out to about £1,420.
Illnesses to be vaccinated against if moving to South Africa include cholera, hepatitis A and B, rabies and typhoid. There's no NHS in South Africa so any medical treatment you receive you will have to pay for. The cost is based upon your salary and how many dependants you have.
South Africa currently has 38,000 UK citizens so perhaps one or two over there will help make your transition easier.
Don't forget that another factor in ensuring an easy transition is Seven Seas Worldwide! We operate a fantastic MoveCube service in South Africa which is proving very popular with ex-pats. The MoveCube is essentially a container on a trailer that visits your home for loading. Once you've loaded your personal belongings and treasured possessions onto the MoveCube, we will then transport them to your chosen destination in South Africa, wherever that may be. It makes this whole shipping to South Africa malarky a bit easier, which is kind of the point.

Moving can be a tough old time. When you think about how much we actually need to do for the day of a move, it's a wonder how anyone actually musters up the energy to go through with it. But fear not, because Seven Seas Worldwide has come up with a way of reducing the stress by about thirty to forty percent. That's a rough estimate. We haven't got any experts on the case or anything.
The way we do this is by removing any doubt you may have about transport. It's quite an unnerving experience watching all your prized possessions being bundled into the back of a van or a lorry. Far be it from us to unsettle you, dear reader, but how reliable is that van or lorry? Don't you deserve a stronger, robust and more reliable container to transport your items from A to B? Perhaps something like a small shipping container?
This is where the MoveCube comes in, a mini shipping container that arrives at your door on a trailer. All you have to do is load it with your packed boxes (free boxes are also provided by Seven Seas Worldwide by the way) and watch it drive away safely to your new home, wherever that may be: We have MoveCubes operating across the globe too so if you're leaving to start a new life overseas, give the team a call.
Our miniature shipping container is designed for long journeys, so when you see our driver lock the doors and take your belongings away to your chosen destination, you'll feel slightly more at ease than you would do with a 'man with a van'. It's this peace of mind that will take away some of the stress of the move. We guarantee it.
So are you interested? Well if you've got this far, you must be. Give us a call or get a quote and find the right size MoveCube for you; we've got a 6m shipping container, a 3m shipping container and a 2m shipping container.
Forget the man with a van or the friend with a station wagon. Do it right. Use a Seven Seas Worldwide container!

There are two transport options open to us when moving. We can either go for the man and his van or plump for the big reliable courier company. There are positives and negatives for both these options.
It's reassuring to have a friendly face turn up at your door who'll just get on with the job once they've got a hot beverage inside them. Although their van looks like it's seen better days, right? Then you've got the big courier company who move tens of thousands of items worldwide in cargo containers, all day, every day. Okay perhaps they're not as personable but they might be more dependable. But then again, isn't a big faceless corporation a lot more difficult to communicate with if anything were to happen to your shipment?
It's a tricky one but we think we have the answer.
International freight shipping is a very complex business so we at Seven Seas Worldwide have tried our best to make the process of moving stuff from A to B as simple as possible. That's where our MoveCube service comes in. The MoveCube is a freight container designed to be carried on a trailer and parked outside your house or apartment block. With the MoveCube, you have the best of both worlds - a man with a van (or woman, of course) and a reliable international courier service.
Freight containers are the way forward when it comes to moving - they're strong, sturdy, safe and designed for international shipping. With the MoveCube service, we've created a more friendly approach; we don't want you to feel like just another order number, we want you to feel completely at ease when you watch the doors being locked on your container of personal belongings.
If you're moving home in the near future, whether it be to the next town or halfway round the world, speak to Seven Seas Worldwide about our simple, effective and friendly solution to shipping overseas.

We know a thing or two about moving because we've been doing it for nearly twenty years. That's why we've created what we think is the most efficient solution to furniture removals: The MoveCube.
The MoveCube is a furniture container inside a trailer that is brought to the door of your house or block of flats. All you need to do is load it with strong and well-labelled boxes and wait until we redeliver it to the door of your new address. It's as simple as that.
The MoveCube comes in three sizes, so if you're a minimalist, you should check out the small MoveCube; if you own a single apartment, you'll probably be better-suited to the medium MoveCube; and if you're in a large family or you're a collector of enormous antique dining tables and rare stuffed animals, then the large MoveCube will be more your bag.
A move can become even more stressful if you have to ship your belongings abroad. However, the MoveCube caters for this too in a number of countries. Our furniture shipping service covers the UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Thailand, Hong Kong and China, so if you're starting a new life overseas, the MoveCube furniture container is the ideal solution. We believe moving doesn't have to be as stressful as people expect it to be - although we're not in the business of shipping spouses and children in our MoveCubes. You'll just have to deal with them.
All we need from you is perfectly-packed, taped and labelled boxes for loading onto the MoveCube. We've done our best to nudge you in the right direction by providing free boxes and packing materials with every order, so you've no excuse! Not that we'd expect you to pack your prized possessions in a bunch of flimsy old boxes you found in the attic. That wouldn't be good for anyone.
Contact a member of the team today to find out more about our furniture containers on 0800 21 66 98 or visit our MoveCube page for more info about this, quite frankly, brilliant box.

There are a lot of transport options out there for those moving home but which one is the best? Well, let’s break it down a bit.
There’s the man with a van but we’d advise against this. Nice though the man may be, his van may not be up to the job (due to age of the vehicle, weight of the boxes, space in the back, etc.) and unreliable transport is not a problem you’ll want to face on moving day. There’s hiring a van yourself but who wants the extra responsibility on an already busy and stressful day? Then there’s your dad and his hatchback. Don’t even go there.
The way forward for safe, secure and reliable moving is the use of shipping containers. ‘But how do they work?’ we hear you ask. ‘Won’t it cost a fortune just to get one delivered to my front door?’ No. A shipping container isn’t as intimidating or expensive as you may think. There are a number of firms who specialise in container shipping and have networks in place that can deliver shipping containers to your door as if they were new phone directories. And there is one company in particular leading the way on shipping container rental: Seven Seas Worldwide. That’s us by the way.
The Seven Seas Worldwide MoveCube is our international shipping container service. Essentially, it’s a container inside a trailer which is brought to your home for you to load up. After 4-5 hours, we’ll return to collect the MoveCube again to take to its final destination. It couldn’t be simpler. We’ve been providing shipping containers for hire for several years now and operate out of the UK, Australia, South Africa, China, Hong Kong, Thailand and New Zealand. Just between you and me, they’re going down a storm in Australia with other countries steadily going the same way.
Other ship containers supplied by our competitors are often a bit on the industrial side. They’re big, cumbersome and loud metal boxes that will almost certainly guarantee your entire neighbourhood knows you’re leaving. Our MoveCubes are a bit more user-friendly and won’t make you feel as if you’ve got a job on the shipyards.
We’ve been in the moving business nearly twenty years and know a thing or two about safe and reliable relocation, so talk to us about the easy-to-use MoveCube, our small shipping containers specially designed for moving the contents of your home - and anything else you can think of - and let us take the stress out of the big day. They're perfect for moving abroad, too!
